When a slurry TBM drives through highly abrasive ground, cubic meters of cuttings surge into the circulation system every minute—separation efficiency determines whether excavation continues or stops. SINOVO Heavy Industry's SD series desander plants are built to solve exactly this problem. Employing modular hydrocyclone banks paired with high-frequency vibrating screens, the equipment achieves precise classification between 30 and 80 microns, returning cleaned slurry promptly to the face to maintain tunnel face stability.
The standalone desander units, covering models from SD-50A to SD-500, deliver slurry throughput ranging from 45 m³/h to 500 m³/h with primary separation cut points adjustable between 30 and 80 microns. The SD-500 configuration processes 500 m³/h at a 45-micron cut point and handles up to 160 t/h of solids, powered by a 124 kW drive system and contained within a 9.3 m × 3.9 m × 7.3 m footprint. For large-scale TBM applications, the SDS III dual-stage series performs primary classification at 60–74 microns followed by secondary separation down to 20 microns, supporting individual system flow rates of 3,000 m³/h—sufficient for shield diameters above 15 meters. In the Wuhan Metro Line 7 river-crossing project, two SDS II-3000 units operated in parallel, managing a combined circulation volume of 6,000 m³/h through mixed strata of fine sand and weathered mudstone.
The equipment architecture incorporates heavy-duty vibrating screens paired with high-efficiency hydro cyclones, centralized PLC remote control architecture provides real-time diagnostics, automated fault annunciation, and seamless integration with ancillary systems, including shear pumps and agitators for bentonite hydration.
Complementing the desanding function, SINOVO offers fully automated filter press systems that reduce filter cake moisture content to ≤25%, enabling zero-discharge slurry treatment and resource recovery. The integrated process combines chemical conditioning—employing viscosity-reduction and filtration aids—with staged pressure filtration, rendering filtrate water compliant with discharge standards while generating salable medium-coarse sand and manageable backfill solids.
The company further provides automatic batching plants with capacities of 20–160 m³/h, utilizing PLC and touch-screen integrated control for precise slurry density modulation. These systems support rapid makeup volume compensation in TBM circulation loops, maintaining hydrostatic face support and preventing ground settlement. The proprietary monitoring software, certified with computer software copyright registration, enables data logging, statistical analysis, and print functionality for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
SINOVO’s SD series continues to demonstrate operational reliability across the full spectrum of mechanized excavation and foundation construction. The company’s engineering focus on modular customization, chemical-assisted dewatering, and automated process control positions its slurry treatment solutions as a benchmark for environmental compliance and operational efficiency in heavy civil works.
